The NSI is used by NZQA as part of the administration of the Record of Learning (RoL).
All existing RoL numbers assigned by NZQA are NSNs. NZQA will use NSNs assigned by TEOs as students’ RoL numbers. The NSI does not hold any information about students’ unit standards or qualifications, so queries about these will still need to be directed to NZQA.
There is no charge for creating an NSN, however, there is a RoL registration fee, which will need to be paid to NZQA in the usual process.
