ESAA2 Replacement Project Update

The Ministry of Education is upgrading its authentication service (ESAA) which is used for logging into applications like:

  • National Student Index (NSI)
  • Services for Tertiary Education Organisations (STEO)
  • New Zealand Qualifications Authority Tertiary Education Organisation Extranet (TEOE)
  • Electronic Receipting System (ERS)
  • Tertiary Education Commission Shared Workspaces
  • Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool
  • Assessment Tool for Teaching and Learning (e-asTTle)
  • Te Kete Ipurangi (TKI).

The replacement service, ESAA2, is designed to take advantage of more modern technology and to streamline the way you use it.

The replacement of ESAA will involve a change in the way you do things. The first change involves the migration of user accounts to the new service – this means that in late July this year all users will have to reset their passwords and provide new password challenge questions.

The second change is to introduce a new online registration process and administration model to replace the current manual process.
